Motivational Monday: Having Compassion with Yourself

I don’t know about ya’ll but lately I have been extremely hard on myself. Not giving myself enough credit for the things I get done and faulting myself for the things I don’t get done. It’s a never ending battle and it’s completely unhealthy and unbeneficial to my physical and emotional well-being. I have been feeling off for awhile and decided that it was time for a change. The first step was me admitting that I don’t have it all figured out but that I’m trying my best and that I will always put my best effort forward no matter the situation. Next I prayed! I don’t want to say prayer is the second step because to me, prayer and admitting to myself and God my issue(s) go hand in hand. God can’t help us if we aren’t willing to help ourselves.

Now for the second step. The second is actually going about making a change and putting into practice what you’ve been affirming and praying about. The third step is to release! Release feelings of self-doubt, comparison, whatever is keeping you from having compassion with yourself. The best way for me to do this besides praying is to write it out!! For you, that may be to talk it out, sing it out…whatever works for you. But writing has always been my outlet for getting all of my thoughts and feelings out there in the open. After I finish writing it out (or writing it down) I feel so much better! Like a burden has been lifted, and I’m able to be more compassionate and understanding with myself, so naturally that allows me to be more compassionate and understanding with others.

I want to remind you that it’s okay to not have it all figured out, live each day as it comes and everything will work out. Be patient with yourself and others but first start with having compassion with yourself. You got this! Everything will be okay!!

Peace & blessings,

D. Rose
